Review of Olay Regenerist Skincare Products

Olay is a trusted name in skincare with products that are not only designed to help us look our best but also help keep our skin healthy. Our skin is our body’s natural barrier to the environment; however, our skin then suffers the abuse from sun, the environment and, unfortunately, ourselves. When we do not take care of ourselves, it shows on our face because our skin is an indication of our overall health. No matter how well we take care of our skin the effects of age and the environment will ultimately damage our skin. Olay’s Regenerist line of products is designed to improve skin’s appearance by increasing the skin’s ability to regenerate the outer layer thus giving you the appearance of younger looking skin. The combination of amino acids, antioxidants and vitamins are good for my skin and for the price, Regenerist is a pretty good anti-aging product.

Regenerist cleansers are designed to exfoliate, cleanse and moisture skin. My favorite is the Regenerist Deep Hydrating Mousse Cleanser because of how wonderful my skin feels after using it. If you are using a treatment, the Regenerist Micro-Purifying Foam Cleanser is better to use because it cleans deep down into pores so that you get the most out of your facial treatment.

Because moisture is essential to any good skincare product, Regenerist has several different moisturizing products to choose from depending on your exact needs. Because women do not have the same skin, Olay has several Regenerist products that provide excellent moisture for skin but are slightly different to meet the needs of many different women. I use the Regenerist UV Defense Regenerating Lotion SPF50 during the summer because it is a great moisturizer that protects from sun damage.

My favorite products in the Regenerist line are those that target specific needs. I like that Olay provides quality anti-aging and skin protecting products that are affordable enough to use every day. The Regenerist Eye Make-up Remover combines a great makeup-up remover with an anti-wrinkle eye treatment for a 2 in 1 product. I use the Regenerist Regenerating Serum under my foundation each day – – it gives my skin a smooth texture that makes applying my foundation easy (and it looks great). In addition, if you need an intensive treatment the Regenerist 14 Day Skin Intervention will give you visible results by reducing wrinkles, strengthening skin and improving appearance.

Olay’s Regenerist products are available at drug stores and discount stores (Walgreens, CVS, Target, Wal-mart, etc.) and range in price from $6 to $24 depending on the product. For the money, this skincare product cannot be beat. Only one word of caution, these products may be too strong for very sensitive skin so you may want to look for samples (try www.Olay.com) or consider buying products with friends to share samples. My friends and I had a skincare party where we all purchased one product, researched it and brought it to the party to make samples for everyone. This was a great way to try Regenerist products to see which ones were the best for each of us.

Affordable Skincare with Vitamins and Over the Counter Remedies

Yes! The short answer is yes. There are vitamins and over the counter remedies that can improve the overall health and appearance of your skin without costing you a fortune. How do I know this? Because I’ve been trying them over the last few months with great results!

Like many people, I have been waging war against my skin problems since adolescence. I tried everything my dermatologists suggested from over the counter remedies to costly pharmaceuticals. Just to name a few, I’ve tried Retin-A, Tetracycline, Clindamycin, Cetaphil, Ortho Tri-Cyclen, Benzoyl Peroxide, Erythromycin, and that cream the good doctor mixed up in the back room. Side effects endured included anything from red peeling skin to some hair loss. As I got older, things improved a little bit, but I was still dealing with minor acne and its skin-dulling aftermath in my late twenties. The good news is I’ve recently found some over the counter remedies that will not burn my face off while evening out my skin tone and smoothing its texture.

Two remedies in my new healthy skin arsenal came from a very unexpected source. Who knew that my eye doctor would give me better skin advice than my dermatologist? Go figure. He recommended that I start taking fish oil caplets and using OCuSOFT Lid Scrub Plus Pads to relieve my irritated eyes. One night, I decided to use the pad to scrub my entire face. It was amazing how much makeup came off on the pad after I had taken a shower, exfoliated my face, and scrubbed it with a washcloth. My skin felt amazing and ten times cleaner. I’ve been using them for about a month now and my skin hasn’t looked this good in years. These little miracle pads also cured by eye problems! They are not hard to come by either. You can get a thirty-day supply of OCuSOFT Lid Scrub Plus Pads for about $16 at Walgreens. Just be sure to rinse your face off with a splash of water after you use them.

So what’s the active ingredient in these magical little exfoliating pads? Well the main ingredient is water. Plain old water followed by Ringer’s Solution and POE-80 Sorbitan Monolaurate. There are about seven other ingredients, but I’ll just focus on the second two. From what I can gather, Ringer’s solution is used to irrigate bodily tissues during surgery and according to Encyclopedia Britannica, it can “prolong greatly the survival time of exercised [bodily] tissues.” I don’t know about you, but I find that kinda creepy. According to lookchem.com, Sorbitan Monolaurate is commonly used as an emulsifier, lubricant, and wetting agent. So what we have here is a tissue preserving lubricating little pad that you will fall in love with after a few uses.

My optometrist also suggested taking 2000mg per day of fish oil containing DHA and EPA fatty acids to promote eye health. Little did I know that they would also help me with my dry sensitive skin! I started seeing results just a week after popping a few caplets. Tiny wrinkles started disappearing and my skin was much less irritated. Now, there have been a few news stories out there warning against the dangers of heavy metal poisoning after taking fish oil supplements. Fear not, there are fish oils on the market that go through heavy metal removing processes. Those brands are perfectly safe to ingest. Look for fish oil manufacturers that advertise molecular distillation as their preferred method of decontamination. I’ve been taking two HyVee Health Market molecularly distilled 1000mg fish oil caplets per day and feel great. When I got them on sale, they were $6 for 300 softgels.

Two other vitamins I can definitely recommend are Vitamin A and Silica. When I stopped eating meat, I found my nails were breaking all the time even though I was getting plenty of calcium. Eventually, I got fed up with my weak little nails and did some vitamin research. I discovered that a small 11mg dose of Silica per day can give your skin, hair, and nails a natural boost. It turns out that Silica is the most abundant mineral on the earth’s surface and is contained within every living thing. For the skin, Silica’s main job is to help the body produce the glue like collagen that holds our skin together. What does that mean exactly? Well, Silica helps to prevent aging by encouraging the production of collagen!

The last Vitamin I can endorse is good old Vitamin A. When I went to pick up some Silica at GNC, the girl at the counter started asking me why I wanted to take it. I explained my skin and nail dilemma. Immediately she recommended Vitamin A and told me that the main ingredient in powerful acne fighting Accutane is an extremely high dose of Vitamin A. Personally, the idea of taking an extremely high dose of anything scares me. Dermatologist prescribed Accutane is not for me, but I’ve decided that a small 1000mg dose of Vitamin A per day is worth a try. Maybe a slight Vitamin A deficiency was the only thing standing between me and perfect skin all these years. Both Silica and Vitamin A will set you back about $5 per bottle for a three month supply.

For a month, I’ve been using all three vitamins, the OCuSOFT Lid Scrub Plus Pads, and Aveeno Daily Moisturizer on my face with outstanding results. My skin is brighter, healthier, younger looking, and acne free. Try even just one of these affordable skincare suggestions and you’ll see major improvements!

Best Skin Care Products Recommended for Hyperpigmentation

Dealing with hyperpigmentation can be one of the most frustrating tasks because generally there is very little you can do about it, and the treatments and products available work differently on everyone. In the last several years I have tried several home remedies and beauty products to help minimize the appearance of hyperpigmentation on my skin, but till now there have been few products developed specifically for hyperpigmentation. Like other skin conditions, there are several contributing factors to the appearance of hyperpigmentation on your skin as well as the degree of hyperpigmentation that you might experience. So, it is hard to nail down a single product that will work for you or help prevent it. For those that have darker skin and are prone to hyper pigmented skin when exposed to the sun for long periods of time, go the extra mile to protect your skin and cover up commonly problematic areas. Liberal applications of sun block are also recommended.

Marvel-Mini Rejuvenating Facial Light Therapy, $200
Nothing that I have tried has ever entirely removed the appearance of hyperpigmented skin, but this little beauty tool comes pretty close to doing the job. A couple months of use now and I have put it away till I need it again, as the areas I was using it on are only slightly noticeable to myself when I carefully scrutinize my skin.

The Marvel-Mini basically uses light therapy in the form of LED lights set to a specific wavelength to treat hyperpigmented skin. A similar treatment therapy from a professional will end up costing you ten times more over several treatment sessions. With this device, you can use it whenever you need it year after year and it is super easy and convenient– well worth the price tag.

Dr. Susan Taylor’s Rx for Brown Skin, $15-60
Dr. Susan Taylor’s Rx is a beauty and skin care line that was developed especially for women with darker skin tones. I fell in love with this skin care line the first time I tried it, nothing has made my skin look and feel as healthy as it has using these products which bring out the best in my complexion.

To help deal with hyperpigmentation that women with darker skin tones are naturally prone to, there is the addition of soy and pomegranates in the beauty products. Soy naturally reduces the appearance of hyper pigmentation and pomegranate helps reduce inflammation which is one of the causes of the uneven coloring in skin.

PCA Skin pHaze 13 Pigment Bar, $25
I use this product in addition to the other two products I already mentioned. Before I found Dr. Susan Taylor’s line and the Marvel-Mini it was one of the only products I was using regularly because the moment I stopped the discoloration in my skin from hyperpigmentation because very visible. The pHaze Pigment Bar works because there are salt based lighteners that keep the discoloration from returning to your skin after you use it, only they do not work for very long– especially if you expose yourself to the sun again. When you have nothing else though it is a good product to help reduce any discoloration as long as you use it as recommended. I also advise you to keep your skin well moisturized while using this product because I always felt as if my skin was drier than it needed to be.

Shiseido White Lucency Concentrated Brightening Serum, $100
The Shiseido Serum is more of a target treatment, and it works well, but it only helps once you already have visible discoloration on your skin. I like to keep a tube around to use when I have a couple trouble spots pop up and need results fast. The size of the tube and the ability to just dab some on and blend in also makes it the perfect product to go traveling with me.

Lancome Bright Expert Intense Brightening Cleansing Foam, $33
The Lancome Cleansing Foam is a fairly good product to use as a facial cleaner if that is where you are having problems with uneven skin. The ingredients will help even out your skin tone and reduce any sun spots or darkened skin at the same time. When I use the pHaze pigment bar, I like to use this with it because it also helps moisturize my face and keeps my complexion clear.

Mario Badescu SkinCare

Mario Badescu skincare products use natural ingredients designed to help your skin look and feel beautiful. Ingredients such as fresh fruits and vegetables, aloe, seaweed, and flowers make these products smell as great as they work!

Mario Badescu’s product line caters to all skin types, meeting the needs of teenagers with acne prone skin to those with sensitive, aging skin. Their staff will help you determine your skin type, whether it be dry, oil, sensitive or any combination of the above. Personally, I have normal/combination skin so the products I use would be suitable for a range of skin types.

In the morning, I wash my face with the Enzyme Cleaning Gel, which is formulated with Papaya Extract and Alpha Hydroxy Acid. This gel cleanser doesn’t foam up on your face; instead it gently exfoliates and cleanses revealing fresher, healthy skin. The cleanser doesn’t contain harsh ingredients that are rough on your skin; in fact, the texture is light and smooth.

I follow the Enzyme Cleanser with a good amount of the Aloe Lotion, which is an extremely mild toner, containing only 2% alcohol. This particular product is good for combination, dry and sensitive skin types, leaving skin feeling deep clean but not with that “stinging” feeling that comes along with so many toners/astringents.

Next, I use a dab of the Hyaluronic Eye Cream, which is ideal for all skin types. I figure it’s really never too early to start using eye cream, and this cream infuses the sensitive skin around the eyes with deep moisture but no oily residue. I follow he eye cream with the Aloe Moisturizer with SPF 15 on the rest of my face. This is the BEST moisturizer ever! It’s feather light and oil-free, so your skin is left feeling soft and not at all greasy. Plus, it’s got SPF built right in!

Before I go to bed, I wash my face again with the Enzyme Cleansing gel followed by another round of both the Aloe Lotion toner and the Hyaluronic Eye Cream. At night, instead of the Aloe Moisturizer, I use the Seaweed Night Cream, which is a nighttime, oil free lotion that’s perfect for dry, sensitive or combination skin.

A couple of times a week, after washing my face, I use either a facial scrub or a facemask. The mask I use is Mario’s Flower and Tonic Mask, perfect for all skin types. It purifies skin, loosening dirt and pore clogging residue that could leave skin irritated and dull. The scrub I use, the Kiwi Face Scrub, is also perfect for all skin types. It’s a sweet smelling combination of Alpha Hydroxy Acids and real kiwi seeds that gently remove dirt that builds up on the surface of skin. After using the facial scrub, my skin glows with freshness!

My skin is now smooth, calm and free of dirt and grime left behind by air particles and make-up. The products all smell great, and they work well together. I don’t know what I’d do without my Mario Badescu skin care regimen.
